Position Overview:

The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will ensure and satisfy business requirements for the line of business. Coordinate delegation of work within the development team to ensure projects are on time and on budget.

What you will achieve in this role:

• Lead data gathering workshops for business requirements. Gathering business information needs for key performance measures, target audience and data requirements.
• Create data analysis solutions with reliability, scalability and reusability in mind
• Working with the data architect/data modeller to ensure business data requirements are realized in the strategic architecture of the warehouse
• Model business processes and/or data flow diagrams. Lead business process impact and data gap analysis.
• Prototype Dashboards and reports working closely with the business units.
• Analyse and create metadata for the reporting layer.
• Research, analyse and document clear and complete business requirements/functional specifications as it pertains to presentation layer
• Analyse business requirement to address complex and highly complex business needs that may cross various technologies and functional areas
• Liaise with the technical designers/data modellers during the Design and Development stages, providing alternative solutions for complex issues
• Understand the reporting and data layers to be able to liaise with the data modellers and architects to get the best data structures for the business.
• Understand multiple areas of the business and how the data is used in order to provide input to data structures.
• Assist the business and project manager/practice leader to resolve change management issues
• Facilitate the handover to Customer support and to implementation.
• Carry out work assignments with little direction from the leader and within the general needs of teams, projects, and timelines.
• Manage business expectations by delivering clear and concise presentation of a proposed solution, data gaps and data quality issues including tradeoffs and alternatives.
• Plan and direct small BI enhancements or work streams of low complexity
• Mentor less experience Business Intelligence Analysts
• Participate in BI Demand prioritization process to stay current with in-flight and emerging projects to identify opportunities for synergies and reduction of duplicated effort.
• Facilitate the collection and cross- business sharing of requirements in order to enable more efficient capitalization on BI projects
• Plan and direct small BI projects, enhancements or work streams of medium complexity
• Validate the integrity of the overall solution as each deliverable progresses to the next stage (i.e. design, development, QA, UAT etc) by leading hand-over sessions and validating conformance of actual results to the agreed business objectives.
• Develop clear and concise documentation as required.

What you bring to this role:

• Community College or Technical School Diploma or recognized equivalency or Certification in a recognized specialty, technical or trades area (e.g., CIP, etc.).
• 7 to 10 years of related and/or progressive experience
• Comprehensive understanding of insurance business and in depth understanding of multiple areas.
• CIP of similar designation
• Strong analytical experience
• Ability to appreciate the direct and indirect impact on business operations of decisions, actions and recommendations made in this role for large complex issues
• Ability and willingness to maintain knowledge and skills through efforts during and outside of work hours
• Good understanding of RSA applications architecture
• Strong communication skills, oral and written
• Ability and willingness to work under pressure for sustained periods of time on potentially multiple projects.
• The role requires knowledge of Project Management practices
