Position Overview:

The VP, Chief Enterprise Architect will direct and enhance the Enterprise Architecture function at RSA. Broadly speaking, the role may be viewed across the following main elements:

• Technology Transformation Program Architecture: Deliver specific architecture elements of the Technology Transformation Program.
• Architecture Governance
• Enterprise Architecture: Establish the Enterprise Architecture as a vital business enabling function and, over time, deliver EA elements of Business Architecture, Information Architecture, Application & Integration Architecture, Technology Architecture and Security Architecture.
• Manage the Enterprise Architecture’s IT Risk and Compliance responsibilities specific to EA and the Technology Transformation Program.

As Chief Enterprise Architect, the incumbent must demonstrate a strong track record as an Enterprise Architect and is able to ensure that initiatives have the appropriate resources and processes to deliver integrated quality solutions.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise and will help shape Transformation of the business systems by bringing experience to the team across change management, blueprinting and organisation design, capability development, technology change, leadership development and team-building, communications and stakeholder engagement, workforce improvement and HR enablers.

What you will achieve in this role:

Specifically, the responsibilities for this role include those shown below.

Architecture Standards
• Establish, maintain, enhance, publish and communicate technology standards for RSA to all stakeholders in the IT, Digital and business line organizations.
• Establish an Enterprise Architecture framework based on TOGAF or other appropriate model(s).

Architecture Governance
• Ensure that corporate standards and appropriate architecture for applications, databases, software across RSA are met and ensure that architectural decisions take a balanced view of short term and long term objectives and are aligned to strategic Technical and Business goals.
• Establish and manage a Governance Board with both IT and business involvement which will direct Enterprise Architecture programmes and inspect, review and endorse (or reject) IT initiatives based on conformance to business requirements (including “non-functional requirements”), functional solution quality, architecture, delivery quality objectives and established RSA and industry standards.

Architecture Solutions
• Ensure that solution architectures are designed to meet evolving business requirements, Establish methodology and procedures for complex applications development and/or integration projects.
• Design and implement migration strategies to new technologies for highly complex large applications.

Technology Strategy
• Assist the CIO in creating a strategic road map for our technology landscape and define directions for the future via an Application, Data, and Infrastructure Architecture.
• Take the lead in assessing changes in technology and best practices and transferring this knowledge along with recommendations to leaders and technical staff as well as reflecting this in architectural direction, process and procedures within the IT group and across RSA.

Technology Leadership
• As a member of the Technology Transformation governing body, communicate at a senior business level. Discuss and make recommendations on technology issues, their impact to programme delivery and to the long term technology strategy.
• Work closely in a dedicated transformation office with a team of senior functional professionals, along with business leaders and external third party providers.

Business Architecture and Relationship Management
• Provide awareness of impact or potential impact to the business from changes in Technology and/or RSA architecture.
• Maintain active and personal relationships with business partners that result in you and your team being perceived as both as business technology partners and respected experts.

Currency and Rationalization
• Establish portfolio management framework for the Application and Technology portfolios, based on a technology lifecycle approach, to ensure identification and resolution of both rationalization opportunities and currency issues with efficiency and effectiveness.
• Oversee and manage the implementation of our multi-year currency and rationalization projects.

What you bring to this role:

• Property and casualty insurance knowledge required
• University degree in computer science or related discipline
• 10+ years related experience
• 10 +years building service oriented and enterprise architecture
• 5+ years in enterprise application integration
• 5+ years in solutions architecture
• Leading technical architecture development and deployment ranging from large complex projects to quick proof of concept solutions.
• Ability and willingness to maintain knowledge and skills, continuous learning about new trends, best practices, etc. in Architecture
• Considered an expert in IT architecture.
• Ability and willingness to work under pressure, with multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of agile methodology
• Knowledge of TOGAF, PMBOK, ITIL, COBIT, and other relevant industry frameworks
