Position Overview:

As a Business Analyst in this growing department, you will provide analytic support during the strategic planning process of key business initiatives. You will monitor portfolio performance in the area of product development, rate strategies and risk selection. You will also assist in the development of customer value proposition, gather and analyze data to identify trends and opportunities in the market place and develop customer insights to shape our corporate vision.

The successful candidate will have strong insurance knowledge, who will be a key business resource to deliver change in support of the Personal Insurance division’s overall business objectives. Working closely with cross-functional teams (including Underwriting, Pricing, Sales, Marketing, Operations, IT, and external parties), the candidate will have a proven track record for achieving results through direct accountability and through influence. Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively develop and manage relationships are critical. The candidate will be proactive and resourceful, highly organized and results-oriented.

What you will achieve in this role:

•Assist the Business Solutions & Innovation (BSI) Business Lead to support key Business As Usual (BAU) and strategic changes
•Working with the BSI Business Lead, business stakeholders and delivery partners to take a business idea from concept through to delivery, and in a way that balances business need, cost, and speed to market as well as efficiency and sustainability
•Based on experience and skill set, potential to take on small initiatives and BAU changes as the BSI Business Lead with the guidance of the BSI Senior Consultant or the Business Solutions Leader
•Work with the BSI Business Lead, to understand what the business needs are and propose practical, yet innovative solutions to help drive our business forward. Not only are you a dreamer but you can deliver too while ensuring business objectives are realized
•A strong understanding of business drivers in the Personal Insurance business from how our products sell, to how our brokers service customers, to how our staff work, and how we can make this ecosystem profitable and efficient
•Assist in providing feasible solutions and recommendations which anticipate the businesses future needs and potential risks, while delivering overall process and cost-efficiencies throughout implementation
•Provide accurate assessments of overall benefits associated with the implementation of strategic and BAU changes; including, but not limited to: cost-savings, capacity uplift and increased customer service
•Design effective data and process tracking methodologies and influence their implementation
•Review and troubleshoot potential premium, system and process discrepancies within the Huon, PI Broker and Quote Vendor Systems and provide resolution and communication to the appropriate areas
•Continuously look for business solutions and improvement opportunities, helping prioritize and deliver on those solutions and other initiatives that drive business results
•Write business requirements for changes that capture the needs of the business stakeholders and ensure delivery partners understand these requirements
•With experience, potential to review and sign-off on systems requirements and functional specifications to ensure they reflect the business needs
•Complete User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for strategic and BAU changes through writing and execution of test scenarios for Huon, PI Broker and Quote Vendor Systems, while working with Quality Management team to resolve defects, and ensuring functional completeness of each change
•Provide input to the change management process and be able to identify possible opportunities to improve the process to ensure timeliness and quality of delivery
•Work with front-line business stakeholders on post-implementation processes and policy handling
•Provide meaningful analytical and problem solving solutions on which to base sound recommendations for change
•Provide ad hoc analysis and measurement to support continuous improvement initiatives and to identify areas for improvement across Personal Insurance

What you bring to this role:

•3-5 years of experience across project delivery and Personal Insurance business roles would be an asset
•Insurance expertise is highly desired with Personal Insurance Underwriting experience an asset
•Strong data analytical skills
•Proficient with various MS Office applications, including Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio
•Proactive and resourceful, highly organized and results-oriented
•Ability to provide clear and concise guidance / recommendations to others while influencing the overall outcome of decisions
•Excellent communication skills
•Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills across multiple departments
•Self-starter with excellent organizational, time management and being able to handle multiple competing initiatives concurrently
•Problem resolution skills
•Experience working with technology delivery teams
•Knowledge of Huon, PI Broker and Quote Vendor systems would be an asset

Bilingualism (English and French language - both written and spoken) is an asset.
