Position Overview:

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to assume the role of Personal Insurance National Automobile Specialist, reporting to the Manager, National Automobile Underwriting (Corporate). The successful candidate will be a team-oriented individual with a positive attitude and a creative self–starter with the ability to work independently. You will participate in the development of, and coordinate the implementation of national product and underwriting programs for the both broker and direct distribution channels of the Personal Insurance Automobile Portfolio in support of the Operational Plan. You will also play an active role in providing technical expertise to front-line underwriters, other members of the Head Office team and cross-functional stakeholders as required.

What you will achieve in this role

• Participate in the development and implementation of new, innovative products and product enhancements across Canada.
• Develop or enhance underwriting eligibility rules and criteria.
• Monitor, analyse and report on underwriting and product trends in the market and recommend action plans based on findings.
• Research and recommend changes that are necessary due to amendments made to automobile insurance legislation.
• Complete documentation and requirements related to product, rule, and regulatory changes to be provided to various cross functional departments, including amendments to underwriting manuals.
• Provide underwriting support to the Underwriting Regions via referrals, coaching, mentoring and training.
• Review marketing material for technical accuracy and approval.
• Conduct large loss reviews, analyse and report on monthly/quarterly/annual trends.
• Liaise with Claims/SIU/Legal on Regulatory/Fraud related matters where required.
• Participate in the technical development of Digital tools and associated application fraud tool development.

What you bring to this role

• 8+ years of automobile underwriting experience.
• Knowledge of Automobile insurance coverages and Unifund products across Canada.
• Experience with and/or knowledge of Automobile provincial regulations and processes.
• Proficient knowledge of Diamond and AS400 systems.
• Proficient knowledge of MS Office (Word, Power Point and Excel)
• Ability to network with and grow and foster relationships with the Personal Insurance team and cross-functional stakeholders in a mutually beneficial manner.
• Ability to manage a cross functional group of stakeholders.
• Excellent project/time management skills.
• Excellent verbal/presentation and written skills.
• Critical thinking and strong and timely decision-making skills.
• Analytical, curious and interpretational aptitude.
• Resourceful research and problem solving abilities.
