Position Overview:

This role is primarily responsible for assisting in the development of seven national brokers, with a strong emphasis on growing the RSA market share, the management of profitability of the broker’s portfolio and the identification of new profitable growth opportunities. He or she will also be responsible for providing ongoing sales support and coordination, and GSL/CI proposition development and communication. In addition to key national brokers, he or she will also provide targeted support to assigned regional brokers.

What you will achieve in this role

• Understanding national broker GWP premium targets, loss ratio targets, COR targets, and be able to translate those targets into goals for assigned brokers
• Work alongside assigned brokers to establish both short and long-term goals for profitability and growth, in-line with national sales and operations plans with particular emphasis on:
o Maintenance of minimum GWP targets
o Strong year over year GWP retention figures
o New business written in chosen segments, lines of business and target areas
• Understand the various reporting tools and reports available that allow for monitoring and managing broker performance throughout the year, in addition to acting on the data obtained
• Become a recognized relationship manager with both management and front-line staff at key national brokerages, in person, over the phone, via e-mail, etc.
• Actively promote the GSL and CI propositions to brokers in a cost effective manner, in addition to supporting nationally or regionally-led sales and marketing growth-campaigns.
• Act as a key resource and liaison for brokers, underwriters and management with respect to sales and distribution issues
• Assist in implementing Salesforce.com, documenting all customer interaction and national competitive activity
• Assist in robust GSL and CI new business pipeline management
• Represent the company and our brand professionally and in-line with our employee expectations at all times, both to internal and external stakeholders

KPIs:

• Completion of broker business planning with key national brokers
• Demonstration of active broker management-to-plan throughout the year with an emphasis on GWP, loss ratio, premium retention and targeted growth
• Deliver true value and exceptional service to assigned brokers through active relationship management
• Provide front-line targeted support to national brokers
• Active contribution and maintenance of the customer and competitor relationship database (Salesforce.com) for his or her assigned key brokers
• Completion of one or more selected strategic objectives, which may include:
o Achievement of specific year over year growth targets for a chosen broker or in a chosen sector/segment
o Successful rehabilitation (i.e. growth and profitability) of a number of key relationships

What you bring to this role

• Proven customer service, sales and relationship management experience in the insurance (or related) industry (10+ years is recommended)
• Understanding of the underwriting and claims settlement process
• Extensive knowledge of RSA’s commercial insurance products and capabilities, including the ability to articulate our proposition to others effectively through presentations, public speaking opportunities, webinars, etc…
• The ability to establish and maintain a high level of credibility and trust with our broker partners, from management levels to the front-line production staff
• Strong internal stakeholder relationship management skills, allowing for successful interactions with underwriting, claims, head office, management, and the executive with an emphasis on the following traits:
- Well organized, thoughtful
- Able to confidently articulate opinions
- Influential and well informed
- Skilled negotiator, mindful of business aims
• Ability and desire to travel nationally as assigned or on a regular basis
• Strong computing skills, including proficient use of Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of Salesforce.com or a related customer and competitor information database tool is an asset
