Position Overview:

The product owner is the primary business representative empowered to represent the business and the primary point of contact to partner in the development, deployment and sustainability of Digital solutions in collaboration with the technical teams. The product owner is the "on the ground" leader to drive projects from vision through to completion. They're responsible for making sure the business benefits are realized and ensuring the desired outcomes are achieved.
Their deep understanding of where the business needs to go enables them to manage the relationship from the project's expected outcomes to scope to benefits. They assure this traceability is prevalent in decision making.

What you will achieve in this role

• Fully understand the context, complexity, goals and needs of the business
• Works in partnership with the business to define tangible business benefits for the digital deliverables
• Define and drive the product vision and roadmap, including recommending product features and prioritization
• Act as the “voice of the customer” to ensure products & festures address known customer needs
• Develop and/or support business case development, defining business objectives and key performance indicators
• Create full traceability from requirement to business benefit for the purposes of prioritization and decision making
• Drive project engagements from vision through the full product life-cycle, including user adoption strategy
• Collaborate with business and technical teams to define and deliver solutions that meet the business needs
• Deliver products and solutions within timelines and assigned budget
• Make decisions in real-time to keep the project moving forward
• Support the development and maintenance of the product back-log:
• Define, write, accept and prioritize user stories and requirements
• Determine the priorities within the backlog and manage stakeholders expectations, including collaborating with stakeholders to understand and determine the “value” of the user stories
• Participate in and lead, where required, project meetings
• Maintain effectively and timely communication with stakeholders to ensure full understanding and awareness of the product roadmap, project progress and status
• Lead product implementation and operationalization
• Coordinate user acceptance testing to ensure the final product moving to production meets the business requirements provided
• Assist in planning and delivery of product rollout, including training, change management and communication
• Ensure appropriate problem resolution has occurred and that system issues are addressed and communicated accordingly, including making final decisions as appropriate
• Evaluate ongoing maintenance and enhancements from a business requirements perspective
• Assess market competition by comparison the company’s product to competitiors’ products
• Work with marketing to define product marketing communications
• Support management by providing information and analyses, answering questions and requests
• Stay abreast of regulatory and technology changes that may impact product expected performance

What you bring to this role

• 2-3 years knowledge and understanding of Property & Casualty insurance – both Personal and Commercial lines of business preferred
• Excellent communicator (both verbal and written) with highly developed presentation, influencing and negotiation skills
• Demonstrated success in defining business benefits and creating requirements to achieve those benefits
• Good understanding of business processes, how to analyze processes, develop new processes, and drive organizational change
• Drive to continually stay informed on new technology and digital opportunities to further improve the business effectiveness
• Excellent organizational and time management skills and experience dealing with tight deadlines and competing priorities
• Proven ability to think strategically, be creative and innovative
• Proactive approach to gaining knowledge about the business area you represent
• Ability to build strong relationships with key business stakeholders
• Ability to critically analyze and the confidence to make decisions, in some cases based on incomplete information
• Intermediate Excel knowledge, specifically coding of formulas
• Intermediate MsWord, Powerpoint & Visio
• Ability to translate technical language to business language to ensure all stakeholders have a consistent understanding
• Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall deliver methods
• Ability to travel to support business and project needs (upto 10%)
