Position Overview:

As a key member of the Application Delivery Services team, reporting to the Director, IT Claims, the Senior Technical Delivery Lead will be responsible for:
• coordinating with the Claims Business Team to determine composition of our Monthly Releases
• coordinating with other members of the Guidewire Support Team in terms of work assignments and progress toward completion
• interacting with resources from teams that interface with Guidewire (i.e. ESB, ECM, MI, Digital, Huon Legacy, JI Legacy and Sigma)
• play a key role in triaging Guidewire defects as well as assessing Guidewire impact related to changes being made by non-Claims Business Teams
• leading/contributing to technical solution design for all Guidewire changes/enhancements
• Delivering their own assigned defect and enhancement work

This opportunity can be located in either St. John’s, Quebec City, Richmond Hill, Toronto or Mississauga.

What you will achieve in this role

• Analyse highly complex and high impact new business requirements, functional specifications or problem reports to determine the options and recommend optimal solution design within the framework of the existing application design and construction or target architecture. Need to be able to balance between satisfying current versus future business needs.
• Support Guidewire Business team by researching, analysing and documenting clear and complete business requirements, functional specifications or defect resolutions involving simple to highly complex issues that may cross various technologies and functional areas
• Coordinate resource assignments to allow for design, development and unit testing of program code that implements new functionality, changes or fixes and includes a balanced solution that anticipates future requirements and not just immediate needs. Analyse/Debug problems and recommend fixes.
• Provide advice and counsel to BSA’s, developers, architects, IT managers and project managers relating to the application’s design and construction.
• Ensure recommended designs are followed and risk associated with deviation is communicated.
• Ensure documentation is consistent with RSA’s SDLC standards.
• Contribute to the Peer review process for all SDLC artifacts.
• Ensure delivery of change to production was successful.
• Ensure knowledge transfer of changes amongst the Guidewire Support Team is completed
• Support peers and junior staff in their projects or tasks when called upon for advice or help.
• Provide estimates on size of tasks and work effort enhancements and initiatives.
• Work with project managers, Sr. BSA and IT managers to define scope and assist in the sizing of highly complex and high impact enhancements and initiatives.
• Work directly with end-users to either problem solve or provide expert insight for “what-if” scenarios and design sessions for complex new systems or enhancements providing forward thinking advice on the end-user and business needs
• Mentor less experienced BA’s/Developers where necessary
• Carry out complex work requirements as generally directed by leader and within general needs to support and direct teams, projects and timelines. Expected to often work on multiple activities simultaneously.

What you bring to this role

• A relevant University degree/technical certification, and/or relevant experience commensurate to the role
• 10+ years of broad information technology experience, of which minimum 3 years should be in a senior systems Application Development/Support resource or like role within a large organization, preferably with a Claims System
• 3-5 years’ experience working with Guidewire and/or extensive RSA Claims Business knowledge
• Previous Leadership or Team Leader experience
• Strong problem solving skills, confidence to challenge and influence senior stakeholders, while assisting the business in finding pragmatic solutions
• Strong prioritization and time management skills, ability to handle multiple ongoing project deliverables, set direction for the team and motivate / develop others.
• High degree of organizational awareness and sensitivity, and ability to operate in an evolving (and sometimes ambiguous) environment.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
